No one loves a Target collaboration more than myself. For starters–great designer product at a minimal price. Sign-Me-Up. The Who What Wear for Target collaboration is about as genius as it gets if you are into minimalist pencil skirts, classic blouses and a few frocks. Not to be mistaken, I am very much into all of those things except when it came time to style this look. I like to consider myself a master at mixing prints–a fashion scientist channeling Bill Nye the Science Guy when it comes to concocting new formulas. The best way to test tube(get it, science joke!) test the waters with mixing prints is to 1. use the same colors and 2. use the same print.
The Who What Wear pencil skirt goes where no pencil skirt has gone before. It fits every part of my body like a glove. Luckily they have two other colors! I gravitated towards the black and white checked pattern since I booked a one way ticket on the black and white train and can’t seem to find my way off. It doesn’t help that black and white goes with everything. I paired it with a smaller checked tank top in the same color story. It’s not so much of a story, but a short narration into the depths of pattern mixing. Tips when mixing patterns (or staying with the same pattern) is size matters! This goes for most things in life, but on the forefront is the checked prints at hand. Opt for two different sizes-I like to wear the larger print on the lower half of my body leaving a more dainty print to frame my top. Keep your accessories simple since the sight of your outfit will be hard to understand by most, it’s best not to confuse them more with added pieces. Et Voilà! You passed your first portion of the science test. Now hurry and go check out the Who What Wear for Target collection before you fail the final test!
