I am not good at sports. Nor do I pretend to be. I am however really great at dressing the part in terms of yoga pants, sneakers and athleisure wear. This theory of dressing the part is further propelled by my latest sneaker purchase-the Stan Smith throwback. An ode to my middle school days that were spent running around the playground at recess and climbing the monkey bars pretending I had some sort of athleticism. Fast forward 20 years later and I am still running around the playground–the corporate playground of New York City.
When you are traveling and running around New York City during market and have to get to many buying appointments quickly you need to dress for comfort while still coming across as fashion forward. I stand before you in my fresh new white Stan Smiths with a seemingly appropriate Banana Republic floral dress for work. I was quite hesitant to try this trend–I did not think it would be flattering or look normal with a dress but I was pleasantly surprised. This outfit is perfect for my upcoming work trip in July. I can easily dress this look up for a vendor dinner at night by switching to heels. To keep this trend on point, always aim for clean sneakers–you do not want to look like you have been playing in the dirt.
I also just realized I look like the older women who wear their sneakers with their office wear and walk the parking lot at work. I might have to join them since I dressed the part.
