The stripe revolution that makes up my closet has only just began. Stripes are the new neutral. The longer I mull over it the more clear it becomes–I only gravitate towards stripes. Predominately black and white stripes because I am French, which makes me Parisian, and if you are Parisian you frequent a black and white stripe more than you would a coffee shop. I only know this because of my greatest purchase as of late. A book, titled How to be Parisian Wherever you are. Since I can’t be in Paris due to work constraints and lack of time off in America, this book allows me to dream I live the Parisian lifestyle in the confines of my cubicle. If you want to join the movement, I suggest buying a copy, pouring yourself a glass of red wine and read cover to cover. You can realistically do this in two hours.
Today I am forgoing the suspect black and white stripe and I am wearing a chalk stripe blazer from Banana Republic which highly resembles the top portion of a suit that a male banker may wear on Wall Street. Let it be known, that I am not a banker hence the need to wear distressed denim to break the barriers that suggest I am a finance major. Go rogue and wear an oversized men’s t-shirt to really confuse onlookers. It’s part of the Parisian flair to not care an ounce what anyone thinks. I am still exercising this mentality. It’s been the most exercise I have seen in some time, but it’s exercise none the less. Je ne regrette rien. Remember that time I said I was going to learn to speak fluent French. So it hasn’t happened yet but I promise it will.
