Going for Mother of the Bride meets Little House on the Prairie minus the bonnet. How did I do? The maxi dress is Zara. It is my new best friend. I am not testing the maximalist waters by any means, as this is the most minimalist thing I could wear–such a hypocrisy. Is it Spring? I think it’s Spring but I can’t be too sure. Spring is my second favorite season after Fall because of the easy, breezy dresses that hang in my closet begging to be worn when the sun is shining. Normally I like to wear pants and layer shirts upon sweaters upon jackets like it’s my job–I like clothes and I want to wear as many as I can at one time. But Spring allows me to dress in a more simple way with just one piece. Think of all the time saved in the morning when you just have to put one garment on. Yes please to more time spent sleeping.
When you are consumed with the frivolousness of pairing the perfect skirt with the perfect top, under the perfect sweater–the daunted with the task of accessorizing with necklaces, bracelets, socks, sandals and so forth. It’s a lot to handle. So what’s the fashionable girl left to do you may ask? Settle for a maxi dress and bask in the glory of how flattering it is for any situation you may find yourself in.
ideal situations to wear a maxi dress:
- after eating a chipotle burrito bowl
- when you don’t have time to shave your legs
- you can air out whenever you want to
- when the weather is confused and you want to keep your legs warm
- when you need to look 5lbs lighter and 5″ taller
This is not just any silhouette, this is the silhouette of dresses, the president of the dress community if you will. Whether you are at work, dinner, errands, prom, gardening, or sleeping this dress will not fail you. For more reasons than those listed above. Only disclaimer, be careful not to trip climbing up stairs and try not to roll over your hemline with your desk chair as I have done both-every.single.time. I wear a maxi dress.
