For the love of a feminine bedroom, helping my sister design hers was a fun project. Before I got into fashion, I always assumed I would be an interior designer on HGTV, so I absolutely love everything about designing a space.
The first piece to enter the bedroom was this tufted headboard I made her (similar HERE). I took an upholstery course a few years ago, and jump at the chance to upholster and redesign any piece of furniture I can find. I always enjoy creating something and watching it come to life. It is the best form of therapy and a great way to de-stress.
When choosing decor, I knew I wanted to keep the color scheme simple to create a tranquil and calming atmosphere. To stay within the theme of her house we stuck to grey and white but wanted to add touches of color in an understated way to create the feel of a feminine bedroom. I came across this beautiful piece of art from Minted and knew this would be the focal point of color in the bedroom.
From there adding patterns and texture with the bedding, curtains and rug added an interesting element to such a simple space. Decorating a dresser is always one of my favorite things to do, and I often change up the pieces I display. I love stacking great books underneath a clear lamp for an element of height. Playing with proportions is key to create an interesting design. Adding lanterns and candles with flowers, and vases bring personality into a room. I love the way the room turned out and wish it were my own!
