THE WEEKLY RECAP:

Happy New Year everyone! I hope everyone had a fantastic night and weekend! As I close the page on 2016 and begin the next chapter I wanted to share with you some amazing life and style resolutions. I can’t thank you enough for following along and coming back here every day to check out my posts and for making this creative outlet possible for me. The new year always prompts me to set high expectations for myself in the year to come, so as the first post of 2017 I felt it would only be appropriate to share with you my top 5 resolutions for the new year.

BE MORE AUTHENTIC

I have steered away from sharing anything super personal on my blog since social media has a way of showing digital perfection, which is not always the case. Therefore I want to be real, authentic, and share that I am just a normal girl, working hard to create my vision within the fashion and digital world. Everything I have accomplished is through time, research and learning, and a ton of hard work. On Sunday’s I will be sharing “The Weekly” recap and let you in on what is going on in my everyday life throughout the week.

SPARK CREATIVITY

I went to school for Fashion Design, therefore I really miss the hands on process that comes with creating something new and exciting. I am very passionate about designers and trends that come into play each season. Finding creative ways to make a fashion trend come alive in my own interpretation for an affordable price is something I miss doing therefore a new DIY project will be added to the blog every Friday. I will be sharing content and easy tutorials that you can do in the comfort of your own home.

HAVE MORE FUN

I am guilty of taking myself too seriously when it comes to most things in life. Having a blog definitely brings that out in me. I am always overthinking every outfit that I post because I want every detail to be perfect. A laid back mentality will come across more in the content I am sharing and overall make me a happier person. I have noticed most unplanned things in life tend to be the most fun and memorable.

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER

Never stop learning! I have a new found love for reading, listening to podcasts and attending conferences and seminars on topics I truly love. One major resolution for me is to read a new book a week that truly inspires me, because I realized how continuing to learn and push yourself can help in every aspect of life. I currently enrolled in a photography class for the winter which I am so excited about. Having a better understanding of my camera, the lighting and settings will be so helpful for my content and when I travel. I want to push myself to continue to learn new things in 2017 and never stop being curious.

EMBRACE THE BASICS

I am constantly complaining that I have nothing to wear when an event comes up, which I know is silly, because I have a closet full of clothes. This year I want to invest in some great pieces, that I can turn to in a pinch that will always look, chic, put together and can be dressed up or down because basics serve as the foundation to any amazing wardrobe. Think the perfect pair of dark jeans, a well fitting blazer, a classic pair of pumps and a white silk blouse. Having these pieces to wear together, or mix and match with anything will ensure you will not need to scramble and feel the need to shop for every dinner, date, party or event that comes yours way.

FAVORITES OF THE WEEK:

Items I am lusting after or buying this week to add to my wardrobe. Most of these items are on major sale coming off the holiday season hence the need to hurry and order!

WHAT I’M READING:

Starting the new year off and learning from the best, the iconic Diane Von Furstenburg. Reading this book was inspirational and I want to follow all of my fashion dreams. The way the book started was such an inspirational story about DVF’s mother and a strong message of perseverance which we can all take page from and apply to our own lives. This book had a ton of amazing quotes, but the most noteworthy quote is “Passion and persistence are what matter. Dreams are achievable and you can make your fantasy come true, but there are no shortcuts. Nothing happens without hard work.” This book was a great, easy read and really inspired me to continue on the path to become “The Woman I Wanted To Be”. I would love for any amazing suggestions for new books to read, especially relevant to women entrepreneurs!
