The trick in mixing patterns is making sure the colors or scale of the print is complimentary without being too matchy.   Think of the law of attraction.  Opposite colors can compliment each other in an appealing way.  Treat stripes as if they are a neutral and learn to pair them with everything.  This goes for leopard print as well. Each have the capacity to be the main focal point, or the supporting piece in an outfit. Mixing stripes and polka dots are the easiest and most effective way to make a statement.  The rule of thumb is to choose two patterns, three can be a bit overwhelming, and pair with a solid blazer or cardigan for a more toned down look.  Scale is key when mixing patterns.  Wear one large print with one smaller print for a captivating and balanced look.  Be bold and confident while exploring all the endless options prints and patterns have to offer.  Be thankful for the endless options your closet has opened itself up to.
