Oscar fashion has the ability for renowned fashion designers to create the most glamorous, stylish, ethereal, and dream like gowns for celebrities to wear.  Fashion plays an important role in an actress’s image and is crucial for nominees to wear the most amazing dress, as the photographs will run for weeks to come.  Careers are defined at these moments and landing on the best-dressed list is the ultimate goal for both designer and celebrity.

Nominees for a leading role include Jessica Chastain, Jennifer Lawrence and Naomi Watts.  A nominated actress has the luxury to wear the most elaborate and adorned gowns because this is their night to shine and be center stage [no pun intended].  After scouring every Fall 2013 runway show and obsessing more than most, while dreaming I am celebrity stylist I have narrowed down my favorite choices for three leading ladies of the night.

Jessica Chastain is naturally flawless and has previously shown amazing sense of style for each award show. My first choice is a new runway look by Monique Lhuillier. The emerald green is a signature color for 2013 and will compliment every feature on Chastain’s porcelain skin and fierce red hair.  The embellishment and flattering figure are the perfect compliment to a high neck and sleeves this gown has to offer.  This dress could not be more perfect for Jessica on her special Oscar night.  Going in more of a fantasy direction, and playing with pastel colors this Giambattista Valli Spring 2013 Couture gown will give her that princess moment she has dreamed of.  The lilac color will also work back to her skin and hair coloring. A Marchesa design in my eyes is perfection.  This nude embellished column gown with prominent sleeves is gorgeous and unexpected.  The way the gown pools around the ankle will look amazing as she walks across the stage.

Jennifer Lawrence is at the perfect time in her career to make a bright, bold statement. She is not afraid to push the boundaries and make a fashion statement, which is great for an actress of her age.  An intense orange Zac Posen gown is form fitting in all the right places and will highlight her best features.  The peplum and mermaid bottom are playful and youthful which will create a perfect red carpet statement.  A second look full of color is a cobalt blue Jason Wu finale gown.  This dress will highlight her small waistline and accentuate her bust with the sheer diamond shape detail.  Since Jennifer is a nominee, a little glitz and glam could go a long way.  A gold metallic Monique Lhuillier gown at a tea length is on trend, glamorous and the Oscars would be a perfect moment for this dress.

Naomi Watts has an elegant, feminine and beautiful style.  She is often seen in lace, floral prints and ethereal gowns.  Keeping in line with her usual style, a Spring 2013 Couture Valentino light green gown would be the sure winner.  The dress is detailed with ruffles, flowers and incorporated into a grid like design.  For this award season it would be great to see Naomi take a risk and step in a sexier direction.  My first choice is a Naeem Khan Fall 2013 runway gown.  Body conscious gowns that highlight all the right features can go along way.  This dress is heavily embellished but still has a fluid, and dreamlike quality to it.  My second choice is a look from Alberta Ferretti’s Fall show.  The black and nude coloring, with the lace and ruffle detail make this a feminine but sexy option.

Any dress an actress wears should make them feel comfortable, confident, and beautiful.  Accessories should highlight and not overpower the gown as they are playing a supporting role to the gown.  I am excited for Oscar night to come to see what each actress chooses to wear and what designers will be featured on the red carpet.
